What is a reel?
‘Reels’ are a newer feature on Instagram that allows users to upload short-form videos (similar to TikTok’s). This was added to the platform in 2020 and these clips can be up to 90 seconds long.
Reels are uploaded in a slightly different way to pictures. You can now only upload a ‘normal’ video as part of a carousel. To upload a clip in this format, you will need to navigate to your profile and then click the plus symbol in the top right-hand corner.
Unless you wish to upload these without a trending sound, Reels cannot yet be scheduled, Uploading without sound is unadvisable, as the reach of your content is likely to be heavily affected by the lack of audio.
